How Advisors Use The Checklists and Flowcharts

With today’s new guide release, “What Issues Should I Consider When Creating My Estate Plan?“, you can have a comprehensive conversation with all your clients about estate planning, no matter what their current estate plan looks like.  More and more advisors are adding some aspect of estate planning to their planning process with clients and these guides can provide a framework to help advisors ensure they aren’t missing an estate planning opportunity.

If you’re looking to have more estate planning conversations with clients, these guides can offer a great starting point:

For clients that have no estate plan, our newest guide was designed specifically to help with the initial estate planning conversation “What Issues Should I Consider When Creating My Estate Plan?” 

For clients that have an existing estate plan, our “What Issues Should I Consider Before I Update My Estate Plan?” checklist can help identify some of the biggest issues that can make an estate plan outdated.

For clients that have a more complicated existing estate plan consisting of several different estate planning documents, the “What Issues Should I Consider When Reviewing My Estate Planning Documents?” checklist can be used to help identify several planning issues related to the documents themselves.

For clients that are charitably inclined, guides such as the “What Issues Should I Consider When Establishing My Charitable Giving Strategy?” checklist can be used to enhance the estate planning conversation.

While these guides directly address estate planning issues, the reality is that many estate planning conversations begin as a result of a life event (and we have lots of checklists that flag estate planning issues in the broader context of a life event). For example, an advisor helping their client plan for an upcoming retirement, may use the “What Issues Should I Consider Before I Retire?” checklist to help ensure nothing is missed.  And a section of that particular checklist delves into estate planning.
